Different Types of Barcodes and How to Read Each One

Not all barcodes are the same. There are multiple types used for different purposes.

EAN-13 (Most Common for Products)

Consists of 13 digits; the first three represent the country code. This is the type Made Where uses.

UPC-A (Common in North America)

Consists of 12 digits, the standard American system.

QR Code

The square code containing much more information than traditional barcodes.

How Does Made Where Read Barcodes?

The app specializes in EAN-13 and UPC-A. Upon scanning, it identifies the first digits and matches them with the GS1 database to instantly determine origin.
